SOPHROLOGY, an Art of Living
SOPHROLOGY is a term created by the Spanish doctor and neuropsychiatrist, Dr. Alfonso Caycedo, to designate a scientific method that it conceived to manage the mind-body balance, for the study of the consciousness and for the conquest of the values of man, with its own and original vivantial procedures.
Pr. Alfonso Caycedo, Déclaration de Genève, 17 mai 2001
Sophrology allows us to improve the quality of different aspects of our daily life, whether they are personal or professional, all the while respecting the individual's values. Due to its trans-disciplinarian and inspired nature, Sophrology is a science of human consciousness, a philosophy, a method of personal development and a path to self-knowledge which constantly strives to evolve and enrich itself. It invites us to perceive life in a new way, with more presence, by seeking the awakening of our positive resources and the harmony of our physical, emotional and intellectual functions. This is why the practice of Sophrology has a positive effect on mental and physical health : it brings relaxation and well-being, confidence and liberty. It demands that one learns the techniques in order to practise them alone. The alliance of eastern and western knowledge characterizes this discipline, adaptable to several fields of application and widely recommended in different domains of human activity (medicine, surgery, para-medicine, maternity, psychology, pedagogy, sports ... )
